What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is the science and the art of healing emotional and psychological suffering.
It is based on a relation between the therapist and the client. Together they explore what is experienced as a problem or difficulty.
How does psychotherapy work?
I will not provide you with recipes, advice, nor general truths. I will not tell you what to do. What I can offer is listen to you with respect, being open and sincere with you, help you to reach your own awareness of what you experience as a difficult situation and work with you towards a change, that will be important and positive for you.
You will decide what to bring to therapy. You will decide what to share. I will appreciate what you bring in and respect your silence.
What else is good to know?
You need to know that the code of ethics I follow obliges me to offer only the services I have been trained for and to be regularly supervised. This means the quality of my work with you is supervised by a more experienced therapist. During supervision I never disclose any information about your identity.
Where does psychotherapy take place?
The psychotherapy sessions take place in my office at a date and time we have agreed on. If you need to cancel a session you should inform me at least one day before. The duration of the session is 50 minutes from the time we have agreed to meet.
How many sessions do I need?
Therapist and client meet usually one time per week. Psychotherapy may be only few sessions or may be a process of several weeks, months or even years depending on clients issues and needs, and on the contract between therapist and client.
What about confidentiality?
Everything that I do as part of therapeutic work in confidential – may not be communicated with anyone without your consent.
The only exception to these rule are situations when there is danger of harm to your life or life of others.
What are the rates for a psychotherapy session?
The rates for psychotherapy are part of the contract between the therapist and the client. Nowadays they usually vary between 40 and 60 euro for individual therapy.
